Polished Porcelain Tiles
Porcelain tiles are produced by a different method from normal ceramic tiles. Instead of the glaze being applied to a ceramic base tile the glaze is blended with the clay that forms the tile. This porcelain clay “body” is then pressed at extreme pressure to form the tile in a highly sophisticated hydraulic press. This tile is then fired at very high temperatures exceeding 1200 degrees Centigrade resulting in an extremely hard, dense, homogenous tile.
Why consider Porcelain tiles?
They are virtually non absorbent. Extremely hard and durable. As with all ceramic tiles shade variation will occur with different production batches of Porcelain tiles. It is important therefore to ensure that sufficient tiles are ordered to complete the project.
